I have set out to explore the mind by completing an honours undergraduate thesis in the EvoHealth Lab at McMaster University. My research focuses on investigating whether the cognitive effects of depression enhance analytical thinking. I'm excited to pursue this topic because taking an evolutionary perspective on depression may reveal positive aspects of depression and may show that depression is not solely a disorder. I chose to complete this project under the supervision of Dr. Andrews because his enthusiasm breathes life into research and he fosters intellectual development by challenging students' critical thinking skills. I intend to use the knowledge I gain as a member of the EvoHealth Lab to assist me in a career in mental health therapeutics development.
