The strength of the EvoHealth Lab lies in its use of a powerful theoretical framework—evolution—and applying it to mental health, a topic of much attention and debate today. This framework allows us to conduct research in a multidisciplinary fashion, which is evident in the nature of the various projects done here.
I am currently conducting my undergraduate thesis, which investigates the effect of motivation and sad mood on analytical task performance to better understand the cognitive underpinnings of depression. I am also working with other lab members on a meta-analysis of antidepressant relapse rates.
My research interests lie between cognitive psychology and mental health, and I hope to continue pursuing research that integrates the two. Being a research assistant in this lab has been invaluable in supporting me in this endeavour.
